what are differences in lens ?
i am just jumped into photography. still i have to buy new DSLR and some good lens. before all this i would like to know there are so many types of lenes available in the market. i want to know exact difference between these zoom lens, telephoto lens, wide angle lens and macro lens.
i am planning to buy nikon D80 camera. is it good camera to buy for nature and wildlife photography ?
Any Nikon DSLR is great, but what matters more than the camera is the lens, and what matters more than the lens is your ability to control the camera.
Zoom lenses have moderate levels of zoom and generally have a wide range of apertures, for example the 18-55mm f/3.5
Telephoto lenses have generally higher zoom abilities, or are fixed lenses (prime lenses) at a certain high level of magnification. For example, a 70-300mm lens is considered telephoto. Another lens considered telephoto would be a 400mm prime lens.
A wide angle lens is a lens that allows the camera to produce photographs that are wider than the field of human vision. For example, two Nikkor (Nikon) lenses provide 180 degrees of view.
A macro lens is a lens that allows you to shoot very close (less than a foot) from your subject. An example of this would be the 105mm micro lens from Nikkor.
Your best bet, as far as lenses for nature and wildlife photography will be a telephoto, or super telephoto (super telephotos are prime lenses, generally 600mm or more.) You should also invest in a tripod.
